Discovery Kids was a Canadian English language category 2 digital cable specialty channel owned by Corus Entertainment and Discovery Communications. Discovery Kids aired informative and entertaining programming for children with an emphasis on real-life adventures, nature, technology, science and wildlife from all over the world. ==History== In December 2000, Corus Entertainment, on behalf of an organization to be incorporated, was granted approval by the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) to launch Discovery Kids, described as "a national English-language Category 2 specialty television service that offers children of all ages a fun, entertaining way to satisfy their natural curiosity with stimulating, imaginative programming that asks the questions of how? and why? and awakens the power of the mind."〔(Decision CRTC 2000-525 ) CRTC 2000-12-14〕 The channel was launched on September 3, 2001.〔(DISCOVERY KIDS LAUNCHES WITH A UNIQUE BLEND OF “EDU-TAINMENT” ) Corus Entertainment press release 2001-08-08〕 Discovery Communications purchased a minority stake in the service either prior to or shortly after the channel's launch. In September 2009, Corus confirmed it would shut down Discovery Kids.〔(Corus optimistic for fiscal 2010 ); The Hollywood Reporter; 2009-09-28〕 The channel was replaced on most service providers on November 2 with Nickelodeon Canada, which however, operates under a licence originally intended for a "YTV OneWorld" network. Because it operates under a separate licence, cable and satellite companies that carried Discovery Kids would not automatically receive the new channel unless they negotiated for carriage.〔(Corus shuttering Discovery Kids, will re-brand Sex TV and Drive-In Classics channels ); Cartt.ca; 2009-09-30〕 The final program on Discovery Kids Canada at 5:30 AM that day was ''Aquateam''. During that show, the channel aired promotions of shows airing that week (which ironically never aired due to the changeover to Nickelodeon.) Following that, they aired a non-narrated message promoting the launch of Nickelodeon in the place of Discovery Kids. After a brief short about statues made out of marble glass, the change to Nickelodeon unceremoniously took place at 6AM. 抄文引用元・出典: フリー百科事典『 ウィキペディア(Wikipedia)』 ■ウィキペディアで「Discovery Kids (Canada)」の詳細全文を読む スポンサード リンク
